3. The use of HTTP. Today, the most convenient solution is to use the Hyper Text Transfer Protocol (HTTP) streaming, combined with adaptive bitrate encoding and delivery. HTTP streaming makes use of the generic servers, based on Windows or Apache server. This has the ability to throttle for several years, even before the online video came. Similar techniques were applied to regulate the delivery of on-demand video clip.
Use of Adaptive Bitrate Streaming or ABR
The great thing about video hosting with a CDN arsenal is the adaptive bitrate (ABR).ABR started by using the user broadcasting live stream in multiple segments and the video would adjust between those live streams by informaton the users computer was supplying to the video player. Today Live Stream video is evolving an it has the ability to convert videos into chunks or fragments, with length up to ten seconds. ABR makes separate streams with different bitrates. By converting the video stream into chunks the stream is delivered over a progressive format and not a not over a traditional video stream. ABR is not only for live video it is also used by companies like netflix to deliver on demand movies to their customers.
Not wondering why, with the use of ABR, many ABR solutions are available in the market now. Everything acts in just the same manner. Some even employ the content delivery through HTTP—either the progressive download or the HTTP live streaming services.
As the present condition of network continues to evolve, the streaming with best bitrate is used for such chunk of time. The solution is about streaming, helping the owner of the content while limiting the delivery and bitrate of the video to what is only needed by the user. CDN also benefits from this as the amount of streaming servers is given limits for the delivery of on-demand video.
